"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Craig Wolfley, a beloved member of the Pittsburgh Steelers family," Steelers President Art Rooney II said.

Wolfley was a fifth-round draft pick out of Syracuse University in 1980 and played 10 seasons with the Steelers, forming a formidable bond with fellow lineman Tunch Ilkin. Off the field, his strength was legendary—he even placed fifth in the World’s Strongest Man competition in 1981, showcasing his elite athleticism beyond football.

After his playing career, he became a fixture in Steelers broadcasting, bringing energy, humor, and deep football knowledge to fans as part of the Steelers Audio Network.

His impact extended beyond the field and the booth. Known for his generosity, humor, and larger-than-life personality, Wolfley was described by former teammates and colleagues as fiercely loyal and deeply compassionate.

"He was truly one of those unique human beings," former Steelers running back Merril Hoge said. "He was genuine, fair, and kind. That’s a pretty good recipe."

Wolfley is survived by his wife, Faith, and his children, Megan, Hannah, Esther, Kyle, CJ, and Max.
